Addiction (Behavioural) Therapy

Behavioural addictions can leave people feeling trapped in patterns they do not fully understand. You may find yourself repeatedly turning toward certain behaviours — such as gambling, pornography, gaming, social media, shopping, work, or unhealthy relationship dynamics — even when part of you wants to stop. Often, these behaviours provide temporary relief from stress, emotional pain, loneliness, shame, boredom, or difficult thoughts and feelings. But over time, the relief fades and is replaced by guilt, secrecy, disconnection, and a growing sense of losing control.

Many people struggling with behavioural addictions are not lacking discipline or motivation. In many cases, these patterns develop as ways of coping with deeper emotional wounds, unresolved trauma, chronic stress, or unmet emotional needs. Therapy creates space to better understand what may be driving the cycle beneath the surface while helping you build healthier and more sustainable ways of coping.

Our work together is collaborative, non-judgmental, and tailored to your pace. Rather than focusing only on stopping the behaviour, therapy also explores the emotional experiences, beliefs, and patterns that may be keeping you stuck. Using approaches such as CBT, mindfulness, motivational interviewing, relapse prevention, and trauma-informed therapy, the goal is to help you regain a sense of control, reconnect with yourself, and begin building a life that feels more balanced, meaningful, and emotionally fulfilling.
